Sexual Harassment Seminars
Certain employers are required to submit their supervisors and managers to periodic sexual harassment training. This includes all new supervisors and managers, who must receive the training within six months of being hired or promoted to a supervisory position. Internal training, even by the Human Resource director, is NOT adequate to comply with this new law. Even corporate attorneys do not meet the qualifications of the statute. The person hired to conduct the seminar MUST be one who regularly is involved in developing sexual harassment policies and procedures, and who has regularly provided training to employers, supervisors, and non-supervisory employees.
Ralph D. Hughes has provided training, including a Powerpoint presentation, to many employers throughout California and elsewhere outside California. He has provided the training to supervisors and managers, and has also provided generalized training to their subordinates. The numbers of employees in the audience has varied, from small groups, to large groups, to all employees of companies. While the training is often required of supervisors, most employers recognize that it is most likely a subordinate who will violate the company policy. As such, all employees benefit from the training, and the employer may benefit by avoiding liability due to the unlawful conduct of an employee.
