History
Ralph D. Hughes was born in Alameda, California, and has lived his entire life in or about the San Francisco Bay Area.
Mr. Hughes was employed as a police officer between 1972 through 1983. He was employed by the Oakland Police Department for eight years (1972-1979) where he worked a variety of assignments including patrol, field training officer, detective, and background investigator. He worked for the Concord Police Department for four years (1979-1983), leaving the department in 1983 while assigned as a detective in the Burglary Division.
Mr. Hughes holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from John F. Kennedy University School of Law, graduating in the top 15% of his class in 1983. He successfully passed the Bar Examination that same year, and has been in private practice in 1983.
Mr. Hughes has been active in his community. A former President of the Chamber of Commerce, board member and officer of several service clubs, Chairperson of the City of Dublin Planning Commission, and an Alameda County Superior Court Judge Pro Tem for many years. Mr. Hughes has donated his time to help his community while, at the same time, providing consulting and legal services to those who live in the community.
Mr. Hughes has never been disciplined by the State Bar, and has never been the subject of a State Bar investigation.
